Same URL as the old Tumblr! soyrwoo.tumblr.com
The new blog will be only or primarily art. For the next few days it'll have some older art trickling in as I set it up.
My old blog is still up and running as a personal blog under a different URL. If we are mutual watchers and you want to follow my personal blog, feel free to send a note asking for the URL. Also, if you have a Tumblr art blog, feel free to post or send me a link!
As for the 55-gallon aquarium:
It took a while to sift the twigs and wood chips out of the soil, but the tank is no longer empty! I now have some dwarf hairgrass and microsword growing in there via the dry start/mist method. It'll probably take about a month for them to carpet the bottom, which is all well and good because I will be going to Japan at the end of next month, and I don't want to be away from the tank at a time when things could easily go wrong.
By no coincidence, one of the places we plan on visiting in Japan is the Sumida Aquarium, which has several nature aquariums that were designed by Amano Takashi
My 10gal is the same as always. No matter what I do the pH goes back to around 8.0, but the plants seem to be doing well. A bunch of shrimp hitchhiked in on the swordgrass for the 55gal, so I currently have a bucket of tiny shrimp waiting to go into the 10gal. Hopefully, a few more water changes will get the pH to be about the same as our tap water and I'll finally be able to add some fish.

Not sure what I'm doing, but that's okay
Just a general update since my last journal was from September.
Politics are looking dismal for reasons I need not elaborate on, SMAP got hecking killed by their own agency, and I don't have a ton of motivation to draw. At least I can do something about 1 of those 3?
One of the things that's been keeping me from doing more digital art is a glitch in my Photoshop that makes all the toolbars and file windows go behind the main window every time I change my brush. I prefer the feel of traditional art, but I miss the flexibility and fewer limitations of working in digital formats.
That's not to say I don't have any digital stuff in the works..
Something big
(shark included for scale)
Offishally graduated
lol this is some real BS
(I got a bachelor of science in aquatics and fisheries sciences)
Instagram and Japanese Drama Recommendations
I haven't been uploading much here, but that doesn't mean I haven't been drawing or taking photos! A lot of it goes on my Tumblr and Instagram these days because I find the uploading process more relaxed over there. For one, I don't need to title anything. That's kind of nice.
If you want to follow me for art, I'd recommend following me on Instagram. I try to keep my posts there visually nice, or at least interesting. My Tumblr is a personal blog, which is the Tumblr term meaning "a right mess" and "absolutely full of entertainment-related material". The title of this journal post may be an indication of what kind of entertainment-related ma

The Sumida Aquarium is pretty neat. I have some photos from my visit some years back, though I didn't focus so much on the exhibit design.
