While my family and I were waiting for the orcas to show up, my younger cousin and I went exploring in the tide pools.
This little crab was one of only a few that were alive and walking about. It didn't scurry away when I inched my camera toward it; at one point, it started coming further out onto the barnacles.
What a friendly little fellow it was!
Taken on San Juan Island, off the coast of Washington state.
